My hair is very wavy and curly underneath the top layer, but straighter on the top. How do I get pre

I can't stand my hair! I straighten it every day, and it's starting to take a toll. Rarely does my natural hair look cool when it's wavy, because it expands into a pyramid. Straighter on top, uber curly on the bottom makes me look ugly. I need to know how to get all over, natural, pretty waves. Is it my shampoo and conditioner, stylers, or haircut? If haircut, I need a style that will look cool wavy or straight. Remember, I want my hair to stay long and lucious and I don't really want to use a curly iron unless totally necessary!

HELP!

Whoa, this. is. my. exact. hair. I noticed my hair looks better when I diffuse it. I hope you're using at least some form of curling mousse, gel, etc. if you're not then I recommend looking into that (All you have to do basically is scrunch it into your wet hair). I've always wanted to put sponge rollers in overnight, maybe you can try it too.

Have you tried using a diffuser on your blowdryer? It works.

Well, I would try first going to a hair salon and telling them exactly how you want your hair done. It's always better to have a professional do it, even if it does cost a little $$. I just read a section about this girl that wanted ash-brown hair, and the colorist at the salon turned it gray! So I would recommend some research on the salon first. I'm guessing you don't want to use an iron because it'll damage your hair. I would recommend Chi. My hair is poofy on the bottom and wavy on the top, and when I use it, it gives me a beautifully straight look, but it looks really natural; you know, like those Asian girls you see on T.V.? But when i want it wavy, I don't press on the iron too hard and i don't repeat it more than twice. That gives me a really natural wavy look. That's what i would recommend for you. The Chi does cost $$$, but it's completely worth it, at least in my opinion! Anyway, hopes this helps!
