Hairdressers - why is wavy hair so dry? Is it because more of it is exposed to air?

On straight hair the cuticle is nice and smooth along the hair shaft, however in curly or wavy hair the cuticle is slightly lifted, which lets it to curl naturally. This does expose it to more air and other things that can dry hair out.

Most curly or wavy hair appears thinker, but it is actually typically thiner than straight hair.

I am not a hairdresser, but I do have wavy hair, and I do know the answer

It is because wavy hair is usually thicker, so more air attracts to the hair that is exposed, so it seems as if most of your hair is dry (it is nice, though when you get out of the pool, it dries quickly)

It might just be that your not giving it enough oil and your hair may be dried out because of heat and change of weather

because wavy hair is thicker and more ubsorbent to water but after it gets wet it drys out so use protectors like frizz control (sunsilk)

I have wavy hair and it's really oily. Maybe it's just me, but it is not dry.
