I would like to perm my hair wavy. And i was thinking of dying my hair. What colour do u think would

I now have straight natural black brown hair. I have asian colour skin (not very fair). I would like dye my hair medium ash blonde. What do u think of it? Any suggestion to make me fairer?

First about perming...if you don't know much about it, it's best to get it done a few weeks before you color your hair. This way your hair has a chance to relax and get used to the perm. If it's colored first the color can get stripped. Make sure you have it trimmed right after it's permed to avoid dried looking ends, don't wash it for the first 48 hours to help the chemicals set, and if you want looser waves, ask for the largest rods if your hair is shoulder length, and the second largest rods if it's longer than that. The length will weigh the curls down. Also, go to a curly hair specialist. They'll know what exactly they're doing with chemicals verses let's say...Super Cuts. They'll know which chemical to use for your hair and skin type for how long to leave it on. Some people are sensitive to the chemicals, so if you have sensitive skin, you may want to let them know before they start.

As for color...since you skin isn't fair you may want to do a lighter brown instead. A medium ash blonde might look way too fake, unless you want that look. But I don't know your exact skin color so I can't really suggest anything. A lighter hair color is going to make your skin look darker though. So try going for a light-medium brown, and get some blonde highlights for definition and...well highlights :-). Overtime from the highlights being applied to your hair...you hair will look a lot lighter because of so many present and past highlights in it. Both perms and dyes are very drying, so make sure you can handle that so your hair doesn't look fried.

I'd just like to add something...About the girl who commented in your other question in the Hair category, GlitterGirl...She was mentioning how horrible her perm was. This was most likely because they left the chemical on too long, and I bet you any money she washed her hair the next day and they never trimmed it. My hair is perfectly fine and I did not experience hair fall like she said she did. I also don't have to sleep with a handkerchief like she said you had to. She obviously didn't go to a specialist, which is something you should do. It's like going to the dentist when you have a back ache...they just can't heal you correctly because they're not trained to do that specific work. My curls do look natural, my hair looks exactly the same as one of my brother's naturally curly hair. And perms are in right now, at least the looser wave look is. Sleek hair is out, so it's all about volume, body, texture and waves now.

Best is to go to an expensive salon for the first time and ask for advice, next time you'll have a rough idea what suits you.

Perming your hair %26amp; dyeing it at the same time could cause severe dryness %26amp; breakage. This is called a double chemical process. Check with a beautician and ask him or her how long you should wait between the color %26amp; the perm, or between the perm %26amp; the color. If your skin tone is olive, be careful with the lighter color on your hair. It could make you look washed-out. Your natural color is always best. But, if you must change the color, consult a color specialist.

Ok simple perm your hair first. This may automatically lighten your hair so this should be done first. Ask the stylist but it should take at least 2 wks. for your hair will be ready to color. Think about highlights this is less damaging plus it will go nicely with the new waves. Your on the right track with the color. Definately ash tones. Do one at a time, its better for your hair plus you will adjust better (than to be shocked by too different of a look). Rock on!

Speaking as an Asian, don't do the blonde! It looks terrible on us! Really, really terrible! At most, do highlights or streaks to give it a punk rock look. But the whole thing just looks trashy. Plus a perm and dye is just asking for damaged hair, split ends, etc.
