I have black, dry, coarse, wavy and thick hair. What can I do to make it manageable to grow out?

I am male, and I usually keep my hair short but I would like to grow it out to about eyebrow length. Any suggestions on what chemicals, or products I can use? Relaxer, texturizer, etc.. I dont hope to achieve oily hair just something thats not so curly, wavy, coarse, etc... Thanks.

First of all, you need to condition it weekly. As far as putting chemicals in, you should go to a professional stylist who knows how to work with your type of hair. Don't do it at home in the kitchen sink. Good Luck.

I would suggest a relaxer if your hair is the texture that you describe. Now, if you are caucasian with this type of hair, I would lean towards a straight perm (taking regular perm solution and combing it straight through the hair). There are many products that you can use every day to calm the hair down. Paul Mitchell makes a product called "Super Skinny" that actually decreases the diameter of the hair and makes it smoother, without making it oily or greasy looking.

I hope this helps you, good luck!
