I have curly hair too, but right now I have bangs that have to be straight or they'll look pretty goofy. Like you, I'm trying to get the straight look without the damage that can be caused by heat and chemicals. I'm sure that there are other answers to this question, but here is the one that I use:
I straighten my bangs by applying a clear gel to them when I get out of the shower, then combing them flat against my forehead and bobby pinning them to one side until they dry. The gel helps the strands stay straight throughout the day, although I sometimes get a little curl at the end from where the pin was. If your hair is short, you can try the gel and bobbypin system or gel, comb flat, and then wear a smooth hat for a while. The hat works pretty well if you're an evening showerer, just sleep in it and wake up with straight, dry hair that only needs a little adjustment. The gel can make your hair appear shinier too.
When my hair was longer I sometimes used a similar system to keep it straight, but I used ponytails instead of bobby pins. After showering and adding some gel to my hair, I would comb it into a low ponytail on the back of my head using a soft scrunchie (gives you less of a "ponytail kink" than a regular elastic does). Then I would comb the ponytail straight and add additional scrunchies or elastics every so often to maintain the straightness along the entire length. If your hair is very thick or you have a lot of it, you may want to do two ponytails instead of one to ensure that your hair can actually dry all the way through in a reasonable amount of time. If your waves aren't too obstinate, ponytail straightening can also work without the gel.
This isn't a perfect system, but for me it's a lot easier, less damaging, less frizzy, and less time consuming than trying to flat-iron my stubborn hair when I want it straight for something. My favorite gel is Herbal Essences because it provides good hold and shine with a great smell and no next-day residue. It works for both straightening my hair and plumping up and defining the curls, depending how I apply it. Maybe that's something you could also consider - embracing your waves. Either way, I wish you the best of luck with your hair styling~

a round brush and a hair dryer will do it if you are patient but you would be better off with a straightening iron

...you can take small pieces and curl them with the curling iron it will take some time but it will straighten your hair... it is the same concept as the straightener (flat iron) though in the sense that heat is being applied to press the wave straight out of the hair...a brush can be used while blow drying like suggested as well...

After a shower, when you've towelled out excess water but your hair is still quite damp, take a comb and comb your hair out.It will help straighten it.
If not the Sunsilk thick %26amp; strong shampoo or Livon hair oil seems to help...

you can blow dry it straight.
It still damages it, but not as much as a hair straightener

Your best bet pressing it or flat ironing it
